There are a wide range of amazing local and national rainbow oganisations designed and run by our diverse communities for our communities. They understand who we are and aim to support and empower us wherever we are on our journey. Below are some fabulous  groups right here in Ōtautahi Christchurch

These rainbow organisations offer support and resources nationally

Gender Minorities Aotearoa, New Zealand’s leading transgender organisation. Run by and for transgender people; including binary and non-binary, irawhiti takatāpui, and intersex trans people. We support transgender people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. We are a human rights-based organisation, operating on population health frameworks. Everything we do is an interactive process of listening to our communities and responding to needs. Most of what we do relates to three main categories, which are information, advocacy, and support.

InsideOUT Kōaro is a national charity working to make Aotearoa safer for all rainbow and takatāpui people. We provide resources, workshops, consulting, advocacy and support for anything concerning rainbow (LGBTQIA+) communities.

Outline is an all ages rainbow mental health organisation providing support to the rainbow community, their friends, whānau, and those questioning. We provide a nationwide, free and confidential 0800 support line for people who want to speak to a trained volunteer from the rainbow community.

Rainbow Youth is an Auckland based organisation that provides support information, advocacy and education for queer young people and their families.

Our vision is for rainbow people to grow up feeling safe, valued and that they belong in the places where they live, learn and access healthcare and social support. We work across a range of Kaupapa and sectors to build understanding, embed rainbow-competent practice and grow the capacity of people who are making change.
